On February 27, 2025, the School of Nursing kicked off the Nightingale Volunteer Service Initiative.
The initiative commenced with an outreach to a local senior care center, where our faculty and student volunteers conducted comprehensive checks including measuring blood pressure, blood sugar, body composition, and bone density and offered personalized guidance based on the results.
The initiative continued with a lecture on “Caring for Health, Enjoying a Happy Old Age,” focusing on senior wellness and stroke prevention. To deepen the impact, student volunteers also taught simple rehabilitation exercises to the elderly. Lastly, Teacher Hou Xiaohui led CPR training for care staff at the center. The simulation and hands-on practice helped them to master skills effectively.
This initiative served to raise health consciousness among seniors health awareness and encouraged sustained care for them. These efforts collectively contributed to a healthier and more fulfilling life for the elderly.
